Employment

Self-employed freelance photographer. Collaborated with designers Vaughan Oliver and Chris Biggs of v23 and provided images for the record label 4AD. Created record covers for The Pixies, Red House Painters and Heidi Berry, many of which have since become collectors' items. Much of our collaborative work has been featured in the book Vaughan Oliver: Visceral Pleasures.

S ince 1987 I have worked for numerous clients within the UK including British Airways, The British Council, Midland HSBC Group, Euro Tunnel, Olympia and York, Mercury Communications, Guinness, Hooch, Gordon's Gin, Asda Wines, Standard Steamship, Prudential, Esso, Mazda, Sony Music, Alberta Ferretti, Capital Radio, Central Office of Information, New Scientist, Penguin, Secker and Warburg and the Royal National Institute for the Blind. During the period 2008-2009 I was commissioned by Vintage Classics, Random House, London to shoot a series of 15 Book cover jackets for Charles Dickens' novels. In 2009 I collaborated with Vaughan Oliver on a limited edition box set re-issue of Pixies recordings, entitled "Minotaur", which includes a 72 page large format book of my new photography.

Teaching Experience

2004 External Validator for Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD) for the BA Visual Communication course curriculum.
1992- 2003 Visiting lecturer at Camberwell College of Art, The London Institute, with responsibility for running seminar groups with the second and third year students within the BA (Hons) Department of Communication and Graphic Design.
1988-1991 External Examiner for Bournemouth College of Art, UK
1988-92 Research Fellow, Department of Illustration at the Royal College of Art alongside the artist Richard Caldicott, exploring the graphic applications of colour photocopiers. The fellowship also involved tutoring MA Students across all disciplines. I organised and jointly curated the RCA exhibition "How Noisy Everything Grows", sponsored by Canon UK and Canon Japan.

Guest Lectureships

1992- present day Guest lectures and conducted workshops at Bournemouth College of Art, Bath College of Art, Manchester College of Art, London College of Printing, Royal College of Art, Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD), Camberwell College of Art, The London Institute and University of the Creative Arts (UCA), Epsom, UK.
Invited international guest lectures in Seattle and San Francisco, USA

Publications

1993 Commissioned by Mitchell Beazley, Publishers, to research, collate and write the book, "The Art and Craft of Montage", depicting the work of 40 artists, notably Terry Dowling, Dan Fern, Russell Mills, Richard Caldicott, Andre Klimowski, the Douglas Brothers, David Blamey and Jake Tilson.
